EU plans to impose countermeasures against Jakarta, which is blocking dispute settlement procedure on nickel exports

On Friday 7 July, the European Commission launched a public consultation with a view to potentially using the regulation on compliance with international trade rules for the first time in its dispute with Indonesia over restrictions on nickel exports. In December 2022, the World Trade Organization (WTO) panel of first instance ruled in favour of the EU and described the Indonesian measures as illegal (see EUROPE B13074A26), but Jakarta appealed against this decision a few days later...
