04/07/23 (Agence Europe) – On 30 June, the European Commission adopted a proposal to implement the conservation, management and control measures adopted by the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission into EU law. NEAFC is the regional fisheries management organisation responsible for managing the fisheries resources covered by the ‘Convention on Future Multilateral Cooperation in the North-East Atlantic’ (‘the NEAFC Convention’). The proposal also aims to implement certain measures stemming from the Union’s international commitments relating to controlling four pelagic fisheries in the North-East Atlantic (mackerel, horse mackerel, blue whiting and herring).
