30/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – In a publication released on 29 June, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) summarises that according to the seasonal outlook (summer 2023) of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), no problems with regard to the security of electricity supply for EU consumers have been identified. Close monitoring is suggested for island Member States (Cyprus, Crete, Malta, and Ireland). The report also indicates that gas storage will reach sufficient levels by the end of the summer and stresses the need to be prudent when it comes to withdrawing gas during the summer period. In addition, ACER recommends that ENTSO-E analyse the consequences of alternative scenarios, such as prolonged droughts, and assess the potential rebound in demand.
