Member States’ ambassadors to EU confirm agreement on Renewable Energy Directive

16/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – The ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) have validated the agreement reached on 30 March between the Council of the EU and the European Parliament on the Renewable Energy Directive (see EUROPE 13153/1). According to several spokespersons for the national delegations, the original text has only been “marginally amended” with the insertion of a proposal concerning ammonia production (see EUROPE 13201/17), “which does not go against the spirit of the agreement reached during the inter-institutional negotiations”. A communication from the Commission should also follow. New negotiations with the European Parliament “are not planned”. (PLD)
