13/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 13 June, the European Parliament approved by a large majority (536 votes in favour, 38 against, 23 abstentions) and without amendment the European Commission’s proposal to grant macrofinancial assistance of €100 million to North Macedonia to help this EU candidate country honour its financial commitments (see EUROPE 13115/12). This aid, which will take the form of two tranches of loans with a maximum maturity of 15 years, is conditional on the implementation of reforms in the areas of economic governance, fiscal policy, public investment management, transparency in State aid, the fight against corruption, judicial reform and energy efficiency.
