20/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 20 April, with the support of the European Commission, European providers of long-term care services, social partners and education and training providers launched a comprehensive partnership for skills in the long-term care sector. The partnership aims to improve career paths and the quality of long-term care, making the sector more attractive, according to a statement from the EU institution. The partners are committed to contributing to the training of at least 60% of professionals providing long-term care each year by 2030, or 3.8 million workers. More than 6.3 million people currently work in the long-term care sector in the EU. By 2050, an additional 1.6 million workers will be needed to maintain the current level of care coverage. (SP)
