G7 to discuss “an integrated approach” to foster a low-carbon economy and ensure energy security

The G7 Energy, Climate and Environment Ministers will meet on 15-16 April in Sapporo, Japan, to discuss the green transformation of the entire global economic, social and industrial structure to be driven by clean energy “to pursue a net zero economy”. They will discuss, as well, how to respond to the current energy crisis and how to ensure a stable supply of low-cost energy, “by using all energy sources”. It will also be about improving resource efficiency and biodiversity conservation in an integrated manner, all while ensuring energy security.

NGOs and think tanks, such as Oil Change International and E3G, are, however, warning ahead of the G7 against what they call “Japan’s toxic energy strategy for Asia” which would promote fossil fuel technologies such as LNG or fossil hydrogen.
