Copernicus announces that March 2023 was second warmest March on record

06/04/2023 (Agence Europe)This was the second warmest March on record, according to data from the European climate observation programme, Copernicus (C3S), published on 6 April. While temperatures broke records in 2016, temperatures in March 2023 were 0.11°C lower, tied with 2017, 2019 and 2020. Globally, last month was 0.51°C warmer than the average for the period 1991-2020. In Europe, the average temperature in March 2023 was 0.86°C higher for the same period. But 2023 is not one of the ten warmest years in March in the European data set since 1940. The month was about 1.3°C cooler than 2014, the warmest on record. European average temperature anomalies are generally larger and more variable, says Copernicus. Link to the press release: https://aeur.eu/f/68l (NP)
