European political parties, revised mandate for Swedish Presidency of EU Council

On Friday 17 March, the Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) gave the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council a revised mandate on the reform of the statute of European political parties and their foundations to reach a rapid political agreement with the representatives of the European Parliament (see EUROPE B13138A24).

“There is support in Coreper for a revised mandate on the role and participation of non-EU parties”, said an EU source.
