24/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission approved, on Friday 24 February, two Danish schemes totalling around €118 million to support the fishery, fish processing and wholesale sectors affected by the effects of the withdrawal of the UK from the EU. The aid for the fishery sector (€113 million) aims to compensate vessel owners for losses incurred due to the permanent reduction in fishing quotas. The aid will be granted to eligible Denmark-registered vessel owners in the form of direct grants. The compensation rate will range between 75 and 100% depending on the extent of the loss of quota values. The €5.4 million will go to the fish processing and wholesale sectors (loss of turnover due to a reduction in fish supply). (LC)
