20/02/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 20 February, the EU Council adopted without debate a decision to add Cameroon to the list of non-cooperating third countries in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The inclusion of Cameroon on this list entails the application of measures, including a ban on the import of fishery products caught by fishing vessels flying the flag of the third country concerned (see EUROPE 13093/5). If Cameroon provides evidence that it has remedied the situation that justified its listing, the Council, acting by qualified majority on a proposal from the Commission, shall remove Cameroon from the list of non-cooperating third countries, in accordance with the Regulation on combating IUU fishing.
