23/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – “The European Union strongly condemns the murder of the well-known Cameroonian radio host, Mr Martinez Zogo”, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) said in a statement on Monday 23 January, the day after the discovery of the lifeless body of the director of Amplitude FM radio, who had been missing since 17 January. “It is essential that a thorough investigation, already announced by the authorities, clarifies all the circumstances of this murder and that those responsible be brought to justice”, said the EEAS in its statement. It added: “The European Union recalls the crucial role played by free and independent media in Cameroon and across the world for democratic and free societies”. (AN)
