European Parliament in favour of tougher rules for waste shipments in EU and to developing countries

On Tuesday, 17 January, the European Parliament voted in favour of toughening the rules on the shipment of waste within the EU and to developing third countries—a proposal put forward by the European Commission in November 2021.

By a large majority (594 votes in favour, 5 against, and 43 abstentions), they adopted the report by Pernille Weiss (EPP, Danish), which reconciles environmental and health protection requirements with the fight against crime linked to illegal waste...
