European Commission approves €500,000 Cypriot support for citrus producers in context of war in Ukraine

16/01/2023 (Agence Europe)On Monday 16 January, the European Commission approved €500,000 in Cypriot support for the country’s citrus growers affected by the effects of the war in Ukraine launched by Russia. The scheme was approved under the State aid Temporary Crisis Framework, adopted by the Commission on 23 March 2022 and amended on 20 July and 28 October 2022. The support will take the form of direct grants. The aim is to compensate eligible beneficiaries for some of the additional costs incurred, in particular due to the increase in the price of energy, fuel and fertilisers, and to help them overcome their financial difficulties linked to the current geopolitical crisis. The aid will not exceed €250,000 per beneficiary and will be granted by 31 December 2023. (LC)
