Brussels, 15/12/2022 (Agence Europe)

The European Parliament deplores the repression and deadly violence perpetrated in Chad against pro-democracy demonstrators during the October 2022 protests and reiterates its condemnation of the 20 April 2021 military coup in the country, in an emergency resolution adopted by a show of hands on Thursday 15 December.

In the resolution, MEPs condemn the restriction of the fundamental right to demonstrate and the use of violence against Chadian demonstrators and civil society.
