European Commission maintains its proposal to suspend €7.5 billion of EU funds for Hungary

At the request of the Council of the European Union, on Friday 9 December the European Commission sent Member States an updated assessment of the measures taken by Hungary to avoid the suspension of €7.5 billion of EU cohesion funds for the country. This assessment does not change anything in substance.

The Commission is of the opinion that the measures taken by the Orbán government between 19 November, the date of the first assessment, and 7 December do not remove the doubts about...
