25/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Friday 25 November, that Denmark will receive almost €89 million in grants under the Just Transition Fund programme to help the country achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The Just Transition Fund should, by 2030, help Denmark to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 70%. A significant part of the funding is intended for the North and South Jutland regions, which need to transform GHG-intensive production processes, such as in the cement industry, and mitigate the consequences of the phasing out of fossil fuel production in the North Sea. In addition, the programme should also serve to train and retrain some 10,200 workers in Danish polluting industries. (TM)
