European Parliament calls for EU-wide positive list of animals that can be kept as pets

In a resolution adopted on Thursday 24 November in Strasbourg, the European Parliament called for the creation of a European ‘positive list’ that would “regulate the trade in wild and exotic animals and limit their keeping as pets”.

This positive list at EU level of animals that can be kept as pets is a “long-standing request from NGOs and citizens’ petitions”, commented Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA, Luxembourgish).
