16/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – Business confidence for next year is even lower than during the 2008-2009 financial crisis, says Eurochambres, commenting on the 30th edition of its annual economic survey (EES2023), published on Wednesday 16 November. Concerns about access to affordable energy and raw materials, skills shortages (a recurring problem - see EUROPE 11987/22) and labour costs are among the main challenges identified by Eurochambres. Eurochambres therefore calls for: - continued joint efforts to support businesses; - tackling barriers in the Single Market; - the development of a “proactive and ambitious” European trade agenda; - the establishment of a regulatory process that “stimulates competitiveness”; - lastly, concrete actions to tackle labour shortages next year.
