18/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 18 October, MEPs backed the appointment of Lithuanian Laima Andrikienė to the European Court of Auditors. 367 MEPs voted in favour of Ms Andrikienė’s candidature, 205 against and 64 abstained. The Committee on Budgetary Control had approved her nomination after a hearing on 6 October. Laima Liucija Andrikienė, who was nominated by the Lithuanian government, is a former Member of the European Parliament (2004-2019) who currently chairs the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Lithuanian Parliament. The final decision on the appointment will be taken by the EU Council. The mandate of the previous Lithuanian member of the Court of Auditors expired on 15 June 2022. (CG)
