European Commission approves €500 million Spanish aid for broadband backhaul networks in rural areas

On Monday 17 October, the European Commission authorised €500 million in Spanish aid through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) to support the deployment of broadband backhaul networks in rural areas.

The support will be in place until 31 December 2025. The aid will take the form of direct grants to electronic communications providers and infrastructure companies. Beneficiaries will be selected following an open, competitive, transparent and non-discriminatory selection...
