17/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) confirmed, on Friday 14 October, that it had opened an investigation into the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines in the EU, without giving further details. The delays in the delivery of the vaccines and the details of the purchase contracts between the Commission and the producers, which have not been made public, had provoked many reactions. In addition, the European Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, had expressed doubts about the Commission’s transparency, after text message exchanges between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the Pfizer CEO, Albert Bourla, were not made public.
