27/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Cohesion Policy, Elisa Ferreira, participated, on Tuesday 27 September in a policy dialogue on “Addressing brain drain: retaining and attracting talent in EU regions” with representatives of European youth associations. The latter stressed in particular that salary alone is not enough to attract and retain young workers. For them, it is also necessary to ensure strong, sufficient and quality basic public services at regional level. “Investments must be made in all territories of a country, in a balanced way. Investing only in some cities will result in massive internal migration flows, leaving rural areas empty”, the Commissioner acknowledged. The debate is part of the European Year of Youth (see EUROPE 12853/19). (HS)
