20/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 20 September, the Council of the European Union formally adopted the decision establishing additional macrofinancial assistance worth €5 billion, in the form of long-term loans on preferential terms, so as to help Ukraine honour its financial commitments. During their informal meeting in Prague at the beginning of September, European finance ministers had unanimously approved creating public guarantees to support the EU budget (see EUROPE 13018/9). “At the next Ecofin meetings, I will push for a swift agreement on the provision of the remaining €3 billion, for which we must also agree on the division of this amount into loans and grants,” Czech Minister of Finance Zbyněk Stanjura declared in a statement.
