01/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 1 September, the European Union opened a new office in San Francisco, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the United States and the EU on digital diplomacy. “This is a concrete step to further strengthen the EU’s work on issues such as cyber threats and the fight against hybrid threats as well as information manipulation and foreign interference”, commented the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The new office, which will work under the authority of the EU delegation based in Washington, will be tasked with, among other things, promoting EU standards and technologies, digital policies and regulations, and governance models, and strengthening cooperation with US stakeholders, notably within the framework of the EU-US Trade and Technology Council.
