01/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The spokesman of the Russian Presidency, Dmitry Peskov, speaking on Thursday 1 September denounced the EU’s decision to suspend visa facilitation with Russia (see EUROPE 13011/1). “This is a ridiculous decision in a series of absurdities”, he said. He said the measure was “bad” for Russians, “because visas will probably take longer and be more difficult to obtain” and it would make things “more complex” for Europeans. While on Tuesday, ahead of the decision, Mr Peskov warned that it could not go unanswered, on Thursday he made no mention of concrete retaliatory measures. (CG)
