16/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 15 June, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education adopted the report on the opinion of Marcel Kolaja (Greens/EFA, Czech Republic) on harmonised rules for artificial intelligence (AI) (24 votes in favour, none against, no abstentions) (see EUROPE 12971/31). The text calls for enhanced transparency obligations for AI systems creating or distributing creative cultural content. In addition, the text calls for an extension of the scope for “educational” AI systems to be considered “high risk”, as well as systems that are to be used to monitor and detect student behaviour during tests to detect cheating. “It makes a huge difference whether you pass the exam or not. Therefore, we cannot leave it up to technology without proper rules and assessments to decide and determine our lives”, summarised Mr Kolaja. (TM)
