16/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 16 June, the European Commission announced the adoption of the first programme under the Just Transition Fund (JTF): the Greek framework programme for a total investment of €1.63 billion. The funds will be directed mainly to Western Macedonia, Megalopoli and the surrounding municipalities. The objective will also be to support the phasing out of fossil fuel power plants in the North and South Aegean islands and Crete. Greece was also the first country to sign a partnership agreement with the European Commission for the 2021-2027 cohesion policy, in July 2021 (see EUROPE 12772/3). (PH)
