MEPs oppose marketing of two GM maize varieties

16/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – In July, the European Parliament will vote on two objections to market authorisation for genetically modified maize in the EU. As usual, the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) decided on Tuesday 14 June, to veto these authorisations, citing public health reasons, shortcomings in EFSA’s risk assessment and a democratic deficit in the authorisation procedure.
