31/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – In a statement issued on Tuesday 31 May, the European Commission said that it had launched a European platform for the registration of persons enjoying temporary protection or adequate protection under national law. The platform, which was announced in March, will allow Member States to exchange “real-time information on registered persons so that they can benefit from their rights in all Member States, while avoiding multiple registrations and possible abuse”. More than 6.2 million people have fled Ukraine to the EU since 24 February, and 2.9 million have been granted temporary protection status. The Commission told the Civil Liberties Committee on 30 May that there were now “more returns to Ukraine than arrivals in the EU”, but could not provide precise data on the proportion of these returns to Ukraine.
