31/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – ASD (aerospace and defence industries), Hydrogen Europe (hydrogen sector) and Transport & Environment (T&E) have sent a letter to transport ministers and the European Commission calling for the inclusion of renewable hydrogen in the list of fuels covered by the scope of RefuelEU Aviation (see EUROPE 12948/7). Hydrogen-powered aircraft could account for a third of passenger traffic by 2050, the signatories say. They propose: - the introduction of a sub-target in 2025 for synthetic fuels; - a redirection of revenues from industrial activities (fines, ETS) towards the decarbonisation of aviation, including the development of the hydrogen industrial chain.
