12/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The EU condemned, and deeply deplored, the Israeli authorities’ approval earlier today,Thursday 12 May, of plans to advance more than 4,400 housing units (2,791 have received final approval and 1,636 prior approval, according to an Israeli anti-settlement NGO), to continue the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, and the retroactive approval of three illegal outposts. “The EU urges Israel to reverse such decisions, which run counter to international law; directly threaten the two state solution; and are completely inconsistent with efforts to lower tensions”, the EU High Representative said in a statement. He called on Israelis and Palestinians to work on ways to prepare the ground for the “necessary resumption of a political process”. (CG)
