05/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – Bulgarian MEP Angel Dzhambazki (ECR) was deprived of his daily allowance for six days after making a gesture “perceived as a Nazi salute” in the Chamber on 16 February during the European Parliament plenary session (see EUROPE 12893/25). “I have decided to impose a penalty on Angel Dzhambazki for his inappropriate behaviour on 16 February 2022 when he held out his right arm in what was perceived as a Nazi salute as he left the chamber”, said European Parliament President Roberta Metsola on Tuesday 5 April in Strasbourg. Ms Metsola said that Mr Dzhambazki had been informed of this decision. The Bulgarian MEP has the possibility to appeal. The amount of this deprivation of daily allowances for a period of six days is limited, according to Parliament’s Regulation, to €2,028. (TM)
