29/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – Greens/EFA MEPs on the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and the Committee on the Environment (ENVI) tabled, on Tuesday 29 March, a request for a draft resolution opposing the draft complementary delegated act on the EU taxonomy. “We consider that the proposed technical screening criteria raise serious doubts as to their legality while the Commission in the adoption of the act has overridden important procedural requirements, undermined the role of the European Parliament and failed to provide reasons for the inclusion of nuclear and gas related economic activities”, the email to the secretariats of the two parliamentary committees states. Adopted by the European Commission on 2 February (see EUROPE 12882/1), the delegated act provides for the inclusion of fossil gas and nuclear energy in the taxonomy as “transitional” activities. The European Parliament has until 11 July to oppose it. (DG)
