No expiry date for EU Covid certificates held by minors

29/03/2022 (Agence Europe)On Tuesday 29 March, according to a statement, the European Commission adopted new rules on vaccination certificates under the EU Covid digital certificate regulation, exempting minors from the 270-day acceptance period for vaccination certificates after the primary vaccination series. The standard acceptance period will therefore be limited to people who are aged 18 and over. While a booster from the age of 12 has been authorised by the EMA, not all Member States are advocating it. Vaccination certificates for minors will therefore not be subject to an expiry date. The exemption will be implemented at the technical verification level by making changes to the mobile applications used. Member States must implement these technical changes by 6 April 2022. (SP)
