The EU Agency for Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters (Eurojust) has supported the establishment of a joint investigation team to investigate international crimes in Ukraine. The responsible authorities of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed an agreement on 25 March for this joint team, which will allow the exchange of information and facilitate investigations.
The investigators will have the task of gathering evidence and sharing it with their partners. The team is also expected to facilitate cooperation between the participating countries and the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Eurojust provided technical and legal support to set up the joint team and plans to provide legal, financial, analytical and operational assistance to the investigators.
Other member countries, third countries, or even third parties may become part of the joint team in the future. (Original version in French by Léa Marchal)
