EU extends sanctions regime until 31 March 2024

21/03/2022 (Agence Europe)The Council of the European Union on Friday 18 March adopted a decision extending the framework of restrictive measures in relation to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 31 March 2024. This regime, which currently has no personality or entity, allows for the punishment of those who violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order and international personality of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “Restrictive measures may also be imposed against those who pose a serious threat to the security situation in the country or who undermine the Dayton/Paris General Framework Agreement for Peace”, the EU Council said in its statement. The European Parliament is calling for action against Republika Srpska leaders, including Milorad Dodik, for their separatist intentions (see EUROPE 12907/13). (CG)
