21/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 21 March the European Commission adopted a mechanism to revoke fraudulent or erroneous EU Covid certificates, according to a statement. With this measure, a certificate revoked in one Member State will also appear as invalid in other Member States. More than 1.7 billion certificates have been issued to date, but the proportion of fraudulent certificates remains marginal. While several countries have already deployed revocation systems at national level, the new system at EU level will allow cross-border revocation via the EU Certificate Gateway. When a State decides to revoke a document, the decision joins an encrypted revocation list and is uploaded by the Member State to the EU Covid Certificate Gateway. The other Member States can then download these lists on a daily basis and distribute them to their national verification applications. (SP)
