04/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has indicated that the dispute between a European company and the Mexican authorities over the export of tequila has been resolved. ‘Brewers Europe’ filed a complaint under the EU Trade Barriers Regulation because it considered that Mexico was violating World Trade Organization (WTO) rules by refusing to issue export certificates for tequila. The Commission investigated the matter and contacted the Mexican authorities in 2021. However, it was notified in October 2021 that the company affected by the export restriction had found a solution to the dispute with the Mexican authorities. ‘Brewers Europe’ therefore withdrew its complaint.
