European Commission registers ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ denomination

02/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission decided on Wednesday 2 February to register Sri Lankan cinnamon with the name ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) at EU level. ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ is produced from the Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume tree, which is native to Sri Lanka (Ceylon). ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ has a slightly sweet taste and a citrus aroma with a hint of honey.
