24/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – The meeting, on Sunday 23 January in Brussels, between the High Representative of the Union, Josep Borrell, and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, was an opportunity to affirm the intention to further strengthen bilateral relations between the EU and Kuwait, according to a statement from the European External Action Service (EEAS). The EU wants to build a “broader and more strategic partnership” with Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, on key global issues such as climate change and the green and digital transition, energy security and renewable energy, trade, investment and security, says the EEAS. Moreover, according to the diplomatic service, the current Kuwaiti chairmanship of the League of Arab States foreign ministers offers additional opportunities for further engagement on regional challenges in the shared neighbourhood.
