European Commission consults to facilitate green and digital transition in mobility and transport sector

On Monday 24 January, the European Commission invited industry, public authorities, social partners and research organisations to give their views on the way forward for a green and digital transition of the mobility, transport and automotive ecosystem.

This industrial ecosystem is undergoing major changes. Today we are launching a dialogue with all stakeholders in the ecosystem to green the automotive, shipping and rail supply industries, helping them to embrace digitalisation”, said the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton.

Through this consultation, the Commission intends to reflect on ways to better define the costs, needs and conditions of support in the context of this transition.

As a result of this process, a jointly agreed plan - called the ‘transition path’ - will be finalised in the course of 2022.

This consultation, which will remain open until 31 March 2022, is part of the May 2021 update of the Industrial Strategy and builds on work already underway on the tourism, energy-intensive construction and social economy ecosystems.
