17/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission adopted a new annual action programme on Thursday 16 December for the Turkish Cypriot community funded with a total amount of €30.7 million. “This new round of projects aims to support economic development, reconciliation and confidence-building measures, including substantial assistance for Turkish Cypriot producers to benefit from the Halloumi/Hellim PDO package adopted in April this year”, said EU Cohesion Commissioner Elisa Ferreira. Measures are foreseen to help Turkish Cypriot producers benefit from the Halloumi/Hellim package (see EUROPE 12696/2), to support the deployment of green infrastructure, to fund the Committee on Missing Persons and the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage and to facilitate bi-community activities.
