23/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – From 2019 to 2020, household expenditure on fishery and aquaculture products grew by a remarkable 17%—well above the 2.1% inflation of prices for these products—according to the latest ‘EU Fish Market’, a document (https://bit.ly/3DMFk6q ) that the European Market Observatory for Fisheries and Aquaculture Products (EUMOFA) published on Monday, 22 November. The data show a 7% increase in value and 4% increase in volume from 2019 to 2020, undoubtedly due to the effects of the pandemic (restaurant closures). In 2020, extra-EU imports of fishery and aquaculture products totalled 6.15 million tonnes worth €24.21 billion, being a 9% decrease compared to 2019. (LC)
