23/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – Thursday, 25 November, is the date that the French national fisheries committee and the relevant regional committees (Hauts-de-France, Normandy, and Brittany) have chosen to unveil the blocking actions they intend to carry out, starting the next day, in order to show the British how determined they are to obtain the fishing licences to which they believe they are entitled in British waters (see EUROPE 12835/2). According to Olivier Leprêtre, chairman of the Hauts-de-France regional fisheries committee, these actions will target flows to the United Kingdom more than those coming from it. On Monday, 22 November, French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clément Beaune reiterated the importance of this issue, which the European Commission did not “take seriously enough at the start”.
