EU and UN agency strengthen cooperation

17/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 17 November, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy, Olivér Várhelyi, and the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, signed a joint declaration on EU support to UNRWA for the period 2021-2024. In this declaration, the EU pledges its continued political support to UNRWA and to ensure predictable and multi-year financial resources to enable the UN agency to fulfil its mandate and deliver its essential services to Palestinian refugees.
