17/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 16 November, the European Commission launched a new trading scheme to help coal, lignite, peat and oil shale producing regions achieve a fair energy transition. Called ‘ExchangeEU’, this initiative aims to connect these regions in order to better address the challenges they face in the transition process. It will bring together delegates from regions across the EU to share ideas and experiences, and to promote cooperation between peers. The Commission hopes to create “a community and network of practitioners with a lasting impact through a demand-driven programme design, tailored to the needs of the participating regions”. The call for applications to participate in the programme will close on 14 January 2022. (DG)
