16/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 November, MEPs on the Parliament’s Transport Committee approved the agreement on new rules for vehicles hired without drivers for use in freight transport (38 votes in favour, 3 against, 2 abstentions). An interim agreement between negotiators from the EU Council and the European Parliament was reached on 26 October (see EUROPE 12821/5). The text, which is supported in the European Parliament by Portuguese MEP Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar (EPP), will now have to be formally adopted by the Council of the EU and by MEPs in plenary. A transposition period of 14 months is foreseen. (TM)
