16/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Development Ministers, meeting in the Foreign Affairs Council in the Development format, will hold a discussion on Friday 19 November over water-related challenges in the context of the EU's external relations. The focus will be on Central Asia. The Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council regards water as a central building block of a green recovery, human development, eliminating all forms of inequality and strengthening the resilience of societies in the world. Through development and humanitarian aid and water diplomacy, it hopes that the EU will strengthen its efforts to implement a comprehensive policy towards the sustainable management and protection of water resources. The Ministers will also hold an informal exchange of views with Samantha Power, the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Second UN Water Conference is due to be held in 2023 (AN)
