12/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 November, the European Parliament adopted, by 373 votes to 124 with 55 abstentions, a resolution strongly condemning the de facto ban on abortion in Poland, which came into force one year ago (see EUROPE 12817/6). Above all, MEPs call on the Polish government “to ensure that no more women die in Poland because of this restrictive law”. A young pregnant Polish woman died of septic shock in hospital in September - a death that could have been prevented by an abortion. Demonstrations were organised in Warsaw when the case was revealed in early November (see EUROPE 12830/16). To read the adopted text: https://bit.ly/2YF9YiN (AC)
